STRATEGY CONSULTATION
Home Events – Sia Admissions If Booth and Kellogg compared notes on you, would they agree?

If Booth and Kellogg compared notes on you, would they agree?

If Booth and Kellogg compared notes on you, would they agree? The 2 committees can reach different conclusions about the same candidate, because each school has built a culture and an environment of its own, and each admissions committee is looking for the candidates it expects to do well inside it. Applicants comparing Chicago Booth and Kellogg in round 2 or a later cycle ask about it in different forms, whether it is which program fits their background, how Booth vs Kellogg differ in who they admit, or whether applying to both is worth the added work.

This session goes through who Chicago Booth and Kellogg are each looking for and what kind of candidate does well in each setting, so the decision does not rest on rankings alone.

Some candidates choose on the reputation they have heard from colleagues. Others write each essay for its prompt without asking what that school’s environment would do with their background. And many apply to the school they feel they should attend rather than the one they would want to. The distance between what a program appears to want and who it admits is where applicants misjudge fit without knowing it.

This session is designed for round 2 and future-cycle candidates who have Chicago Booth, Kellogg, or both on their list and want to understand how each committee is likely to see their candidacy.

During the session, we will discuss:

  • What Chicago Booth looks for in a candidate that Kellogg weighs differently, and where the 2 admissions committees overlap.
  • Why the same career story can sound like a natural fit to 1 committee and a stretch to the other.
  • What applying to both asks of a candidate, and what to weigh if both programs say yes.

Susan Berishaj, founder of Sia Admissions, will compare how the 2 committees evaluate a candidacy, where they are likely to agree about the same profile, and where they are likely to part ways.
