MIT Sloan FT MBA 2026-2027: What the rounds and video changes reveal

MIT Sloan confirmed two structural changes to its MBA application for the 2026-2027 admissions cycle. The round structure has been reduced from 3 rounds to 2, and the first video statement has changed: candidates now introduce themselves to the admissions committee rather than to future classmates, and the question of what experiences have shaped who they are has been folded into that same 90-second response.

This session breaks down what those two changes reveal about how MIT Sloan is evaluating candidates this cycle, and what that means for how you prepare.

The video introduction now carries two jobs that used to sit in separate places: presenting yourself to the people making the admission decision, and explaining what has shaped who you are, inside 90 seconds and a single take. The written cover letter still makes the professional case on paper. What that combination is actually testing, and where prepared candidates struggle most, is what this session is about. The compressed round structure raises the stakes.

This session is designed for candidates who are serious about MIT Sloan and want to understand not only what changed in the application, but what the admissions committee is now looking to learn through these formats, and whether their candidacy is built to answer them.

During the session, we will discuss:

  • Why MIT Sloan’s move from 3 rounds to 2 changes how application timing functions as a strategic decision, not just a logistical one.
  • Why redirecting the video introduction from future classmates to the admissions committee changes what the response needs to prove, not just who it is addressed to.
  • Why moving the “what experiences have shaped you” question into the video introduction places new weight on 90 seconds that previously belonged to a separate, considered response.

Susan Berishaj, founder of Sia Admissions, will walk through what MIT Sloan’s application changes reveal about the school’s evaluation priorities this cycle. She will explain how the video introduction and the written cover letter are read together as a single argument for admission, and what separates candidates who treat the video as a formality from candidates who use it to reinforce the same case their application is already making.
